The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show (Tuesday, June 12th to Sunday, June 17th) is teaming up with the country’s top sports charity, The Lady Taverners.
The highlight of the Bolesworth-Taverners partnership is a glittering VIP lunch at the show on Wednesday, June 13th, with a celebrity fashion show featuring the couture designs of Chester-based fashion designer, Matthew O’Brien.
The big sporting event that day is the Bolesworth CDI 3* Dressage Grand Prix, which sees British Olympic gold medallists, Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester battle it out for the top prize. There’s also Strictly Come Dancing-style equestrian action with Freestyle Dressage, when horses dance to music. One of the leading competitors will be HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand. The 31-year-old Princess Nariratana, who is an international fashion designer, is the daughter of HRH the King of Thailand and has represented Thailand at the Asian Games in dressage.
Matthew O'Brien said:
'I'm thrilled to be working with the Lady Taverners at beautiful Bolesworth Castle. It'll be a fabulous location in which to show my evening collection. I'm proud to support the terrific work done by the Taverners, who are passionate about what they do and are inspirational in the help they give to young people.
'It's a great time for the Matthew O'Brien label because we're expanding and we’ll soon have a fabulous new store in the heart of Chester, showcasing our couture range. We will also have a ready to wear collection. We're flying the flag for British fashion and it's exciting that we're growing here in the north west of England where, as any woman who lives here knows, we have the most stylish women.'
The Lord and Lady Taverners charity dates back to 1950 and has grown to become the country’s leading sporting charity for the UK’s 4.6m young people who live in poverty or with a disability. The money raised by the Taverners is spent on helping youngsters engage in sport and recreation. Last year they financed nearly 4,000 coaching sessions and helped around 8,000 young people to play cricket.
Karen Metcalf, chair of North West and Cheshire Lady Taverners said:
'We are so grateful to the Bolesworth International Horse Show for choosing to work with us this year. The Taverners is the UK's leading youth cricket and disability sports charity. We're dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance and our Fashion Show at Bolesworth will make a significant contribution to our work.'We're delighted that Matthew O'Brien will be with us. He's a real star of British fashion and we know that our guests will love his gorgeous designs. And, as always with the Lady Taverners, we'll have lots of fun.'
Throughout the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show - from Tuesday, June 12th to Saturday, June 17th - volunteers from the Lady Taverners will be collecting donations.
